Hello readers! Welcome to a book tag! I am really excited for this book tag because the questions are a bit more personal than most other book tags. And I can’t get to talk about my favorite genre! Which is one of the reasons this blog exists.
What is your favorite genre?
Fantasy! I read it way too much. I keep trying to branch out, but every time I go to the library, I end up checking out more fantasy books. It’s a problem, I know. I’m working on it.
Who is your favorite author in that genre?
Brandon Sanderson. He writes epic fantasy and has written one of my favorite book series. His books are usually 600+ pages so they’re not for the light-hearted, but the worldbuilding and magic systems are some of the best I’ve ever read.
What is it about that genre that keeps pulling you back?
I think the reason I love fantasy so much is because of the possibilities and diversity. Someone who is good at worldbuilding can come up with a whole new universe for me to explore. One day I could be reading about royals in their castle, the next I could be reading about people with magical powers, or mermaids at the bottom of the ocean.
What is the book that started your love for that genre?
I can’t remember the first fantasy book I read, but the first fantasy series I got invested in was Wings of Fire by Tui T. Sutherland. I loved all that series all the way up until the tenth book. We don’t talk about the eleventh book and everything after it.
If you have to recommend at least one book from your favorite genre to a non-reader/someone trying to get into that genre, what book would you choose and why?
Artemis Fowl by Eoin Colfer. That was the book series that got my brother into reading, and I think it’s a good series to start with because it's set in the “real world” and it’s interesting and fast paced. It’s a relatively easy series to follow with recurring characters and fun plots.
Why do you read?
Most of the time for entertainment. Sometimes for other reasons, but I enjoy spending my day lost in a book or writing a story.
I hope you enjoyed this book tag and if you’re not a fantasy reader, maybe you can understand why some of us love it so much!
Until next time!
