Hey readers! It’s Lyn with another book tag! Today I am doing the Apple Book Tag. I thought that this would be a simple tag, but it turned out there were a lot more questions than I thought!
Granny Smith: An overbearingly sweet character
When I think “sweet character” I think of Syl from the Stormlight Archive by Brandon Sanderson. I wouldn’t say she's overbearingly sweet like the prompt says, but she deserves more love than she receives.
Fuji: A book about a mountain
I can’t think of a book that's about a mountain, but I can think of a few books that have mountains in them. My favorite one that comes to mind is The Hobbit by J.R.R Tolkien.
Red Delicious: A book that would be perfect if it was only judged by its cover
There are a lot of books that would be perfect if only judged by their covers. Caraval by Stephanie Garber, Brightwood by Tania Unsworth, and The Lost Continent by Tui T. Sutherland to name a few.
Golden Yellow: A book with yellow on the cover
A fairly easy prompt. We’ll go with Darkness of Dragons by Tui T. Sutherland. Qibli is on the front in all his golden glory.
Mcintosh: A writer that has influenced your writing
Gail Carson Levine has influenced my writing since middle school. I took her advice from a book she wrote to specifically help new and young writers. I don’t read her books much anymore, but she was definitely crucial to my early works.
Honeycrisp: A book that you have read that is in great demand
Great demand? Like it's super popular? Uh… I’ve read the Lunar Chronicles by Marissa Meyer and I guess they’re pretty popular...
Baldwin: A writer you feel needs recognition due to stunted acclaim (whether it was due to something that happened or a premature death)
Okay, I don’t know if this follows the prompt exactly, but I’m going with Mechtild Glaser. She wrote one of my favorite books and when I finished reading it, I was shocked that I had never heard of her before! She’s a German author whose works got translated into English, and I think that's part of the reason that she’s not very popular (even though she totally should be!) Go read her book, The Book Jumper, it’s super good!
Empire: A book about or set in New York
Dave at Night by Gail Carson Levine! This is like the only book I own that is set in New York. It’s a historical fiction about an eleven year old orphan.
Gala: A book that fits under many genres
I feel like if I read historical fiction fantasy, then I would choose a book like that, but I don’t read books like that sadly. I would like to, but I haven’t gotten around to it yet.
Ambrosia: A long book that was easy to follow
Depends on your definition of a “long book.” I’m going to assume that a “long book” is anything over 500 pages. I’m going with Elantris by Brandon Sanderson. It was fairly easy to follow for me, because I already had the Stormlight Archive and Mistborn and was used to Sanderson’s way of doing things
.
Jazz: A book written in or after 2010 that demonstrates freshness and originality
There are many books, especially in recent years that have creative concepts. I’m not going with a retelling, because I wouldn’t call that original no matter how creative you get with the story. This is hard. I think I’m going to go with Everything Sad is Untrue by Daniel Nayeri. It's nonfiction, but super good.
Mutsu: A big book that you indulged
Any Brandon Sanderson book. His books are massive and I have loved pretty much every book I’ve read by him. Then again, I’ve only read the good ones. My friends who have read more of his books warn me of the bad ones and tell me not to read them.
Alright, that’s it for the Apple Book Tag! Hope y’all enjoyed!
Until next time!
