Greetings, book lovers!
Today, I am doing my own version of Kamama’s reading habits book tag— which, by the way, was an awesome idea! So, enjoy!
Do you have a certain place for reading?
Not really. I do most of my reading on my bed or at my desk, but I'll read anywhere. I like to read in my hammock, or sometimes at the piano. (That last one's fun because I end up playing the piano while I read).
Bookmark or random piece of paper?
Both. I don't always know where my bookmarks are, so I most often use things like Bible verse cards or pieces of ribbon or lace.
Can you just stop reading or do you have to stop after a chapter/certain number of pages?
If I get called away or something, I'll stop anywhere, but I usually leave the book open. If I stop reading just because, I finish the chapter. At least. I don't pay too much attention to chapter titles, though, so I may end up finishing five chapters first…
Do you eat or drink while reading?
Sometimes. I'm almost always on my kindle when I do this. But I'll read during lunch or snack, and sometimes I'll drink tea while reading. Or anyway, I'll have tea with me and I'll drink it between reading. I can't drink it while actually reading at the same moment. That would be disastrous. And accomplish nothing.
Multitasking: music or TV while reading?
For music— all. the. time. (Well… almost). Often, I like to listen to soundtracks or instrumental music, but just as often— or more so— I'll listen to music with lyrics. I usually end up absorbed in the book and only hearing the music in the back of my mind. Or, I'll end up absorbed in the book and not realizing I'm singing the lyrics. (Or, depending on what I'm reading, I'll switch between paying more attention to the music and paying more attention to the book, or even read without comprehending and pretty much only listen to the music.) However, I doubt I can read while watching TV. Not like I've ever had a chance to try, since I don't watch TV. But I did try to read a Shakespeare play while watching it... I ended up listening to it while I read it and not really watching it at all.
One book at a time or several at once?
Usually, only one book as a free-read. But with school reading and such, I end up having multiple books going.
Reading at home or everywhere?
Everywhere and anywhere.
Reading out loud or silently in your head?
Mostly silently in my head. Occasionally I'll read bits aloud, but that's pretty much always if I'm pretending to be one character and I read only their lines aloud. Or if it’s a difficult book that I’m trying to comprehend. And if I know nobody else is listening.
Do you read ahead or skip pages?
Why? What would be the point? No I do not. I mean occasionally I'll start a book halfway through, but usually I've already read it and was just flipping through and saw a part I liked and then got pulled in. Rarely, when I’m bored, I may pick up a book I’ve never read and start it in the middle, but that never happens with a book I was truly interested in reading in the first place. But I do not read ahead or skip pages in a book I am truly interested in reading.
Breaking the spine or keeping it new?
I didn't know breaking the spine was a thing… I keep them new.
Do you write in your books?
No. I save quotes and such on other paper or my kindle so I can transfer them to the computer later.
Well, that’s all for now!

Fun post, Auriel! It's kinda funny how detailed you were with describing how you listen to music and read at the same time ;) Also, its super cool that you play the piano while you read!
