Quarter Year Crisis Book Tag

Hey readers! Can you believe that a quarter of the year is already over? I’m happy about it, only two more months until summer break! Anyway, this is a quick book tag about some of the books I’ve read so far this year. Hope you enjoy!

How many books have you read so far?

I’ve only read thirteen books this year. I’ve been busy with school and other things, so there hasn’t been much time but I’m hoping to read some more soon.

Have you already found a book you think might be a 2022 favorite?

Yes! I found this really fun series called the Finishing School Series by Gail Carriger and I think it might be one of my new favorite series. There’s a flying school, a werewolf who wears a top hat, and girls being trained to be assassins and spies. Oh, and a mechanical dog named Bumbersnoot. He’s the best part.

If not, what was a book that wasn’t quite five stars?

Gilded by Marissa Meyer missed the mark for me. It was a good book, and I enjoyed reading it, but it just wasn’t up to par with some of her other books.

Any one star books/least favorite book of the year

Yes, there was one book that I read recently for a reading challenge that I really didn’t like. It had been sitting on my bookshelf for almost a year, unread, and I finally picked it up to read it. It was called A Merry Heart by Wanda E. Brustetter, and it was about an Amish girl who was holding bitterness in her heart after the man she thought she was in love with married another woman. I hated it. The main character was grouchy and selfish and overall unlikable, the dialogue was so unrealistic and I was cringing almost every time a character opened their mouths, and just overall the characters seemed unrealistic. They did things that did not align with what we had been told about them and they did things that made zero sense for no obvious purpose. Yeah, I didn’t finish the series.

Most read genre so far

Is this a surprise to anyone? Fantasy, obviously.

A book that surprised you

The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows. I picked it up at the library for a reading challenge, and I wasn’t sure what I was expecting, but I ended up liking it much more than I thought I would. It ended up being my favorite book that I read in January.

A book that has already come out in 2022 that you want to read but haven’t yet

I don’t think there are any. There are books that I want to read that are coming out later this year, but there aren’t any that have already come out that I know of.

One goal you made that you’re succeeding at

To read a book each month for a reading challenge that I’m doing with some friends. So far, I have managed to finish every challenge for each month. Only nine more to go!

One goal you made that you need to focus more on

Reading more books. I had a goal of reading at least one hundred books this year but it’s started off really slow. I’ve been busy and have been stuck in a reading slump and writer’s block for a few months, so I’m hoping that I will be in a more bookish mood when spring finally rolls around.

That’s all I have for you today!

Until Next Time!
