Random Tropes I Want to See More Of

Hey readers, this is Kamama! Today I am doing an article about random tropes that I like, but don’t see often. If I have a book to match the trope, I will mention it, but for a lot of them I don’t think I do just because I don’t see these tropes all that often. Hence the point of this post.
Body Swapping
I actually can’t think of a book I’ve ever read with body swapping, but the idea of it sounds so cool to me! I don’t know why, but I would love to at least try and read a book that somehow involved body swapping at some point.
Likable Villain
Okay, I know that the point of a villain is to be evil and scary and all that, and I love a good scary villain just as much as the next person, but there’s something about a likable villain that’s just… likable. I’m not going to give a book example, because I can’t think of one, but I am going to give you a movie example. Loki from Marvel is the reason I know that I like likable villains. And I rarely see them in books! Which, to be honest, might be a good thing, but I would like to actually enjoy reading from the villain’s perspective once in a while.
Time Loop or Stopped Time
Like the Body Swap trope, these are ones that I haven’t actually read in a book but the idea of it intrigues me. For the time loop one, I would be curious to see what the character did differently each “day,” since it would be exactly the same, or change depending on what they did. The stopped time is one that I’m actually more interested in. For whatever reason, I love the idea of a character walking around a still world, whether they caused it or are attempting to fix it.
Hidden Identities
This is probably my favorite one out of all of these tropes. Best for last, I guess. I have actually read a few books with this trope, and I will say that it couples nicely with enemies to lovers. Defy the Night by Brigid Kemmerer and The Orphan Queen by Jodi Meadows both have this trope and I absolutely love it! I wish there were more books with hidden identities because I need more of it!
Sign Language Representation
This one isn’t really a trope, but I would LOVE to see more use of sign language in books, whether the person using it is deaf or mute. Sign language is such an underrated language but, in my opinion, it is one of the most fun to learn. I’m disappointed that it's not mentioned very often in books or represented properly.
That is it for random tropes that I want to see more of, but if I discover more, I might make a part two. That’s all from me for now, but what are some unpopular and/or random tropes that you would like to see more of?
Until Next Time!
~Kamama Deere
An attractive, compatible guy and girl duo who are just friends and nothing more. Maybe with a brother/sister relationship. It would be so nice to not have so many books constantly pushing how the female protagonist HAS to choose between two guys; why can't she just be a sister figure to one or both?
Interesting post! I agree that there needs to be more sign language in books, and I love hidden identities in fiction. I also wish more books had the main characters use music to defeat the villain, rescue the maiden, or whatever the point of the story is. Whether the music is played, sung, or symbolic, I really don't care, but I've never read a book that involved a musically talented protagonist or even sidekick.
Fun post! You know what I would like to see more often? The sidekick characters getting their own love interests. Actually, I kinda have that in my own story tho, which is fun. I just feel bad sometimes for the sidekicks that need more love!
